MONDO WE LANGA (David Rice) - (65 Years)

1970-2016


WHO IS MONDO WE LANGA?

Mondo We Langa (David Rice) was born in Omaha in 1949, graduated from Creighton Preparatory school and took courses at Creighton University. Both are Catholic institutions of learning. he wrote for the local underground paper, Buffalo Chip, from 1969-1970 and was a member of the Black Panther Party (BPP). He played guitar at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, a center of progressive activism in the 1960's and 1970's under the pastorate of John McCaslin. Mondo also ran a breakfast program for inner-city youth and was a well-known community activist. Today Mondo We Langa is a published poet and playwright. Even writing from prison, he has become a major voice for justice and the arts in Nebraska.

Mondo died in prison on 3/11/2016 from complications of CPOD. his ashes were taken to Tanzania and were released on Mount Kilimanjaro by his Comrades.

Our intentions are to promote inspiration among the Progressive Population and give hope to the Black Panther Party Political Prisoners. We are asking you to obtain two postage stamps to communicate with your selected Political Prisoner and as proof to send a copy or top section of letter to the Campaign Committee with your return address. You may speak on any subject, but no photos or art of any kind (most incarceration rules).

When you complete your correspondence to your selected Black Panther Party Prisoner (list enclosed) put in envelope and make a copy for second envelope and mail to : Black Panther Party Commemoration Committee

River. It's the only section of Orleans Parish district located on the West Bank of the Mississippi River. Algiers is known as the 15th Ward.  It's one of the oldest Wards of the 17 Wards in New Orleans. Following chattel slavery along the Mississippi River. It became the birthplace of  Jazz in the early 1900s.
